1. Laos Industrial Design validity term, maintenance and renewal
An Industrial Design in Laos become effective from the granting date to the end of 05 years commencing from the filing date (subject to renewal), may be renewable for two other consecutive five-year terms, giving a total 15 years’ Industrial Design monopoly.
In order to maintain and renew the validity of the Industrial Design in Laos, the Industrial Design holder shall pay maintenance and renewal fees before the expiration of the validity term. The payment of the maintenance and renewal fees may be delayed for no more than six months after the expiration of the current validity term.

In order to maintain and renew the validity of Industrial Design in Laos, the following breakdowns of fees are applied:

The DIP shall consider a request for renewal of Industrial Design in Laos. In current practice, it takes from 12 to 24 months from the date of receipt of the renewal application and the fees.
If the request has no shortcoming, the DIP shall issue a refresh Certificate of Renewal of Industrial Design Registration in Laos instead of the original Industrial Design Certificate.
